Two pics

This week I would like to show two pictures.
First one is a group photo taken in 1930-ies. I am not sure what organization it was - the caps seems different than student caps which can be seen in previous posts. At least I suppose so ;). Maybe someone can help. My grandfather (mom's dad) is marked with a cross over his head.

Second is a typical family photo taken in 1938. My mom is two and looks like a boy because of her short hair. It changed in a year - look at her in 1939 in some previous posts. And I like this photo.

It would be interesting to know where the first photo was taken.
The second is a lovely family photo.

Your Mom is so cute, and they look happy. The first picture cracks me up; it doesn't look like anybody is very enthused for having to pose for it, lol.

Take care,

Kathy M.

If you can read the posters and plaque in the background, they may help. I could only make out P.W.K. on the posters and Drweski on the plaque. If you know the language, you could probably read more by enlarging the picture.

Great photos. Though they do not look like student caps, the adults sure look like teachers. I'd think a school or maybe a factory?

I suppose it could be a school - my grandfather looks younger then in a students photos. The photo is really high quality - I have a scan ca 60 Mpix and each face is clear, but posters are out of focus. These are lottery posters, but such lottery took place every year or more often. The plaque is for Jarogniew Drweski, Mayor of Poznan city, who died in 1921. So most probably it was taken in Poznan. Maybe a school trip. But, as Kathy noticed, young people do not look happy, do they?

A very sombre-looking group but it's nice to see the ladies' handbags - they're very much "of that time". The portrait of your mum and grandparents is a handsome photo. Jo

Most lovely photos, thanks for sharing these!

What wonderful pictures. I would give a small fortune for some of those hats featured in that first photograph.

Witam,

Pozdrawiam
